
IDIAPJGol researcher Francisco Martín Luján has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). His appointment marks the beginning of a new stage shaped by the relocation of the Faculty to the Bellissens Campus, the introduction of the Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, and the adaptation of teaching to an ever-evolving environment.
Martín Luján is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Surgery at URV, holding a joint appointment as a primary care physician. He is also Director of the Knowledge Area (Training, Education, Research and Innovation) at the Institut Català de la Salut (ICS) in the Camp de Tarragona region. In addition, he teaches in the Bachelor’s Degree programmes in Medicine, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Biomedical Engineering.
His research focuses on interventions related to healthy lifestyles, nutrition and community health. He coordinates the ISAC research group (Healthcare Interventions and Community Activities), has led national and international research projects, and has authored numerous publications in leading international scientific journals.
In this new role, Francisco Martín Luján will promote initiatives aimed at strengthening teaching quality, research and innovation, with particular emphasis on digital transformation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. His priorities also include strengthening collaboration with hospitals, primary care services and long-term care centres across the region to foster knowledge transfer and generate a positive impact on population health.
