
Anna Ruiz Comellas, a researcher at the Central Catalonia Research Support Unit of IDIAPJGol and the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), has been appointed associate professor of Medicine at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).
Dr. Ruiz is a family physician at the Primary Care Team in Sant Joan de Vilatorrada (ICS) and combines clinical work with teaching and research. At UVic-UCC, where she has been affiliated for years, she teaches courses on Ageing and Family and Community Medicine. She is also a clinical practice instructor.
In the field of research, Ruiz is the principal investigator of the Rural Health Promotion Group (PROSAARU) at IDIAPJGol, where she leads projects focused on primary care research in rural settings.
The PROSAARU group addresses issues such as equity and accessibility, rural environments, and the sustainability of the healthcare system. With an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach, the group works in areas such as prevention, chronic conditions, and public health. Its aim is to generate knowledge to improve the quality and equity of healthcare services, especially in rural contexts, and to establish itself as a benchmark in health promotion.
