In the case of Rosa Morros, head of the Drug Studies Unit, the recognition of her career in Primary Care research is doubly relevant since it is the first time that this award has gone to a woman and, moreover, to a professional who is not a family physician.
The award distinguishes an excellent research career in the field of primary care, highlighting her contribution to positioning primary care within drug evaluation structures and her support for conducting clinical trials with medicines.
Morros has also participated in 76 scientific articles on the use and effectiveness of medicines, adverse effects, complications, and epidemiology. She also stands out for the creation and coordination of the Clinical Research Unit of IDIAPJGol within the Spanish Clinical Research Network (SCREN). Her teaching vocation is clear in her trajectory as an associate professor at the university, the supervision of five doctoral theses, and various master’s theses. She has also participated in the development of clinical practice guidelines for the ICS and in CatSalut’s therapeutic harmonization protocols. Lastly, the ICS recognizes her leadership in the creation of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee at IDIAP.
On the other hand, Gemma Falguera, head of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care (ASSIR) of Primary Care Metropolitan North and principal investigator of the GRASSIR group, has received the award for her contribution to knowledge in the field of sexual and reproductive health from a nursing perspective.
Falguera has also published numerous relevant articles in her field and has been the principal investigator of two primary care projects within the Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation (PERIS) of the Department of Health, one of which is currently underway. She has notable teaching experience, having supervised two doctoral theses and with two more in progress. Regarding the transfer of research to clinical practice, she stands out for the creation, together with two other professionals, of a selection and appointment program for cervical cancer screening in the ICS Primary Care Clinical Station (ECAP), as well as for coordinating the “Sexe Joves” website, which derives from her doctoral thesis.
Finally, during the 14th ICS Research Conference, the work of IDIAPJGol researcher Roger Mallol was also recognized. Specifically, he received the award for Best Poster.
