The AES 2025 Call for Proposals Opens

The Strategic Action in Health, from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, has announced €160 million in grants, project funding, and research contracts

Throughout February, calls for applications will open for participation in the programs of the Strategic Action in Health (AES). The AES is the main tool for funding biomedical and health research in Spain and is organized by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), under the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. This funding call starts with €160 million, which could be increased by an additional €40 million for various programs offering direct grants, project funding, and research contracts.

The purpose of these grants is to address the health priorities of the population, including preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and palliative aspects of diseases, as well as the generation of scientific evidence. This is one of the foundations of the quality care and prevention provided by the national health system and companies in the sector, which play a key role in structuring the public R&D&I system in biomedicine and health sciences.
