The year 2024 has been declared by the Government of Catalonia as the Jordi Gol i Gurina Year, commemorating the centenary of his birth, to highlight the legacy of this exceptional man. He continues to be a source of inspiration for all those aspiring to a medical practice based on a deep understanding of humanity and a commitment to the well-being of others.

Jordi Gol i Gurina (1924-1985) was much more than a conventional doctor; he was an advocate for humanistic medicine. With a holistic vision of healthcare, he emphasised comprehensive and person-centred primary care. His life exemplified values such as solidarity and commitment to human rights. On the centenary of his birth, his legacy continues to inspire healthcare professionals to approach medicine with empathy and compassion, always placing individuals at the centre. He was a strong supporter of the doctor-patient relationship, introducing concepts such as informed consent, palliative care, and dignified death.
