Josep Vidal contributes to the book "Atención Primaria. Principios, organización y métodos en Medicina de Familia"
The coordinator of the Central Catalonia Research Support Unit at IDIAPJGol and ICS is the author of the chapter on non-face-to-face consultations
Dr. Josep Vidal, coordinator of the Central Catalonia Research Support Unit (USR) at IDIAPJGol and the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS), and family physician, has contributed to a chapter in the ninth edition of the reference book on family and community medicine in Spain: “Atención Primaria. Principios, organización y métodos en Medicina de Familia”. The chapter, focused on non-face-to-face consultations, draws on Vidal's expertise in telemedicine and provides a detailed view of the evolution and application of remote consultations in primary care.
Vidal worked in collaboration with Eugeni Paredes, a doctor from Lleida, and Iris Alarcón, a doctor from Barcelona, both professionals from ICS and members of the Digital Health Group of the Catalan Society of Family and Community Medicine (CAMFIC). This book is considered the most prestigious in the field of family medicine at the national level, and this new edition comes after ten years without updates.
Updates in the latest edition
This edition incorporates five new chapters that cover relevant topics such as family and community nursing, primary care during health crises, the health of trans people, the use of point-of-care ultrasound, and especially non-face-to-face consultations, a growing practice thanks to advances in telemedicine. With these new additions, the book remains a key reference, adapting to the new challenges of 21st-century medicine.
An essential work
The book is divided into three volumes. The first covers the principles, organization, and methods of family medicine; the second focuses on common health issues treated in primary care; and the third volume offers questions and answers for self-assessment. In addition to its rigorous and updated structure, this work is an essential tool for doctors, residents, and other health professionals who want to deepen their knowledge of family and community medicine.
