We present the OHDSI Spanish Node at the Innovation Congress through the use of Health Data
At the INNODATA 2023 conference, held in Seville, the Hospital del Mar and the IDIAPJGol presented to the scientific community the state node of the international OHDSI health data research network.
Both institutions coordinate the Spanish Node of this initiative, which brings together 25 state institutions and technological companies with a shared vocation: promoting Big Data studies carried out with Real World Data from electronic medical records, in order to generate scientific evidence.
Dr. Miguel Ángel Mayer, from the Hospital del Mar Management Control department, and Dr. Talita Duarte Salles, from the Real World Epidemiology Research Group (RWEpi) of the IDIAPJGol, are the coordinators of this node. The initiative is based on the use of standardized data with the OMOP Common Data Model of the ODHSI. This standard allows data to be shared in a common format, facilitating interdisciplinary research, access to millions of clinical data, large-scale analysis and the application of advanced bioinformatics methodologies.
"This makes it possible to work in a new global scenario that until now was not possible: to develop medical research online with millions of data from very different institutions and in a federated way", points out Dr. Mayer. The main objective of the node is to facilitate collaboration between its members and the health administration to contribute to scientific knowledge, both at the national and European levels, for the benefit of society, patients and citizens in general.
