The Odyssey app speeds up the management of any Heart Attack Code

A new tool improves coordination, information flow and treatment time for patients who have suffered an acute heart attack and are urgently transferred to a tertiary hospital. This is the Odyssey app, a tool that streamlines procedures from the moment the patient gives the alarm signal. Before a Heart Attack Code, time is life!IMG 6461

The tool has been developed by the Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona, the Jordi Gol University Institute for Primary Care Research (IDIAP), the Josep Trueta Biomedical Research Institute of Girona (IDIBGI) and the University of Girona (UdG). ). It is already being used since September 2021 in the Girona Health Region between the Trueta Hospital, the reference hospital, the emergency services of the rest of the regional hospitals and the SEM.

The operation of the app is very simple: when any of the healthcare devices receive a patient who has generated the activation of the Heart Attack Code, they include the case data in the app, including electrocardiogram images. Sharing this information allows the Cardiology team at Hospital Trueta to instantly assess the patient's condition through a mobile device or tablet and, therefore, can guide the professionals who are caring for the patient.

The application also includes a chat through which the medical staff of the different centers can exchange impressions and clinical guidance in real time. The app incorporates a geolocation that allows you to know at all times where the patient is during the hospital transfer.

Once the patient has been cared for, all the clinical information continues to be uploaded to the application, so that the professionals from the regional hospitals who have treated the cases in the first instance can follow the evolution of the patients.
