A study from USR Metropolitana Nord selected by the Nutrients awards

The study "Determinants of the consumption of regular, sports and energy soft drinks in Spanish adolescents" has been selected by Nutrients magazine as a candidate for the best article for the awards organized by the same scientific publication.

The USR Metropolitana Nord researchers who have been part of this study are Vanessa Cruz Muñoz, Marta Urquizu Rovira, Victoria Valls Ibáñez, Josep-Maria Manresa Domínguez, Gerard Ruiz Blanco and Pere Torán Montserrat.

The study analyzes the increase in the consumption of sugary drinks (SBB) and how the impacts on health justify the action of health policies. They evaluate the associations of socioeconomic and lifestyle variables with the consumption of regular (RSD), sports (SD) and energy (ED) carbonated drinks among adolescents. The research is carried out with a sample of 3930 Spanish teenagers (2089 girls and 1841 boys) aged 13 to 18.

This study has been selected as one of the articles published in the journal throughout 2021. Three research or review articles will receive an award each. Next August 30, the award will be announced on the Nutrients magazine website.
