IDIOAPJGol wins a bidding to work for PAHO/WHO

IDIAPJGol has won a bid from the Pan-American Health Organization, an affiliated body to the WHO. It will therefore be responsible for carrying out a project that will consist of two systematic reviews of the impact of cohesion and social capital on health. Based on these reviews, three products of an analytical and informative nature will be produced.

OPS

The first review will seek to identify, assess and synthesize the evidence and state of the issue of the relationship between social capital and health, as well as the inequalities within that relationship. The research question will be: What is the relationship between social cohesion/capital and health?

The second review aims to examine interventions and policies relating to the promotion of social cohesion or social capital in people's health. The research question will be: What are the interventions and policies that promote social cohesion/capital by improving the health of the population and what are the barriers identified for the promotion of social cohesion/capital?

On the basis of these two reviews, theIDIAPJGol will produce three products: a road map, an advance report on research results and a final report. Combined, these three products will be an updated study that will be presented in a workshop by the OPS and later published. This assignment is a great milestone for the IDIAPJGol, as it means starting work for the World Health Organisation. In addition, the thematic area is of particular importance due to the current socio-economic and environmental crises that we are experiencing.

The team is led by Constanza Jacques Aviñó (general coordinator) and are part of it: Matthew Bennett, Marcela Villalobos, Laura Medina Perucha and Anna Berenguera.
