IDIAPJGol and the ICS give 22 grants for research in Primary Care

Yesterday, April 20, IDIAPJGol and the ICS delivered grants for research in primary care with the aim of supporting research by professionals at the first level of care. The different categories of grants are intended both to give a boost to the already consolidated research staff, and to encourage the most novice professionals.

A total of 22 Primary Care professionals from all over the territory have been recognized with these grants. In the block of research intensification grants, this year the 18th edition of the ICS Grant has been convened to promote group research strategies through the intensification of researchers< /strong>, which consists of the release of up to 50% of the working day for the intensification of the investigation for two years. 8 have been awarded to the following people:

 

  • MAITE PEÑARRUBIA MARÍA, of the ECONSAP group (USR Costa de Ponent), which will promote a strategic plan for "Research in Health Economics in Primary Care".
  • CINTA DE DIEGO CABANES, of the EPIVAC group (USR Tarragona-Reus), which will promote a strategic plan in "Infectious diseases of the respiratory system susceptible to vaccination".
  • PILAR MONTERO ALÍA, of the GRIDAES group (USR Metropolitana Nord), which will promote the line of research “Healthy aging and balance”.
  • JOSEP LLUÍS CLUA ESPUNY,  of the EBRICTUS group (USR Terres de l'Ebre), which will promote the strategic plan entitled “EBRICTUS: Epidemiology, Stroke Code, Survival and Economic Costs”.
  • ANNA Mª RAMÍREZ MORROS,of the DAP_CAT group (USR Catalunya Central), which will promote the line "Gender perspective and cardiovascular risk factors in diabetes".
  • ALBA MARTÍNEZ ESCUDÉ, of the GREMHAP group (USR Metropolitana Nord), will consolidate research in Liver Diseases at the DAP Metropolitana Nord.
  • ANNA RUÍZ COMELLAS, of the PROSAARU group (USR Catalunya Central), which will promote the line of research on COVID-19 in Central Catalonia.
  • XAVIER BUSQUET DURAN, of the GREMSAS group (USR Metropolitana Nord), which will promote a strategic plan entitled "Complexity in home care for advanced illness and end of life".

 

For the third consecutive year, this year the Aid for the creation of Stable Release positions for senior researchers has been called again, which consists of the release of up to 50% of the working day for the intensification of research for four years. Two grants have been awarded to the following researchers:

  • M. ROSA DALMAU LLORCA, of the GAVINA Group (USR Terres de l'Ebre), which will promote the strategy for "the Evaluation of health interventions in Primary Care 2022-2026"(FOTO)
  • ANA MORAGAS MORENO, of the GRIP Group (USR Tarragona-Reus), which will promote the line of research entitled "Improvement in the use of antibiotics for urinary tract infections in primary care".

On the other hand, this year the 22nd ICS Scholarship for training in research and completion of the doctorate in Primary Care has also been announced, where a total of 5 scholarships of €9,015 each have been awarded for the following doctoral students:

  • JUAN JOSÉ ZAMORA SÁNCHEZ, project title: "Multidimensional instruments with a comprehensive approach to identify frailty in people living in the community: Systematic psychometric review" (USR Barcelona)
  • SILVIA REIG MAJORAL, Project title: "Determination of the iodine level in adolescents by studying the intake of iodine with food and the determination of ioduria" (USR Girona)
  • JOAQUIM SOL CULLERÉ, Project title: "Development of dynamic metabolic models for the prediction and flexible treatment of morbidity and mortality associated with aging" (USR Lleida)
  • DARINKA SAVIC PESIC, Project title: "Utility and performance of the detection of spirometric alterations, through a mobile application, in asymptomatic smokers." (USR Tarragona-Reus)
  • MARC RIBAS AULINAS,project title: "Analysis of the use of new factors to improve the ability to predict cardiovascular risk in the population at intermediate risk, according to the equations with classic risk factors". (USR Girona)

In the INTENSIFICATION predoctoral scholarship modality for the release of 25% of the working day for two years, two grants have been awarded for the completion of the doctorate to the following people:

  • EVA LECEAGA GAZTAMBIDE,project title: “Lung ultrasound as a prognostic tool in patients with stable chronic heart failure in primary care” (USR Metropolitana Nord)
  • SUSANA ERAZO ALIATIS, Project title: "Causes of underdiagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Primary Health Care, opinion of health professionals and patients"(USR Metropolitana Nord)

The 17th Call for a stay in foreign or state research centers consists of financing transportation and remuneration during a stay of one to 12 months in a foreign or state research center. Two grants have been awarded:

  • PILAR MONTESÓ CURTO, The researcher will carry out a 12-month stay at Luther College in Iowa, in the United States of America, carrying out the project entitled "Bio-psycho-social approach in patients with fibromyalgia and other patients with chronic pain" (USR Terres de l 'Ebre)
  • ELENA ROEL HERRANZ, The researcher will carry out a 4-month stay at the NDORMS of the University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom, carrying out the project entitled "Impact of COVID-19 vaccination on preventing long COVID: a population-based cohort study from Catalonia"  (Transversal Research Unit)

La 5th Call for complementary economic aid for stays and training in foreign research centers consists of partial or total financing of travel expenses, accommodation or other types of expenses that may arise from carrying out this stay.&nbsp ;Two have been awarded to the following researchers:

  • ANTONIA RAYA TENA, €1,950 is granted to the researcher to financially support her doctoral stay at the National School of Public Health of Cuba, for the development of the doctoral thesis entitled "Effectiveness of a psychoeducational group intervention carried out by Primary Care nurses in patients with depression and comorbidity physical."(USR Barcelona)
  • ELENA ROEL HERRANZ, €2,000 is awarded to the researcher to provide financial support for her stay at the NDORMS of the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, carrying out the project entitled “Impact of COVID-19 vaccination on preventing long COVID: a population-based cohort study from Catalonia” (Transversal Research Unit)

Finally, the call for Aid for Research Projects in Primary Health Care has reached its 24th edition, consolidating itself as the most important competitive aid for the promotion of research in Primary Care in Catalonia, aimed to finance the best research project led by new researchers or emerging research groups from IDIAP Jordi Gol. Thus, of the 12 applications submitted, the jury has considered that it deserves to be the winner of the grant:

  • ALBERT DEL POZO NIUBÓ, The project is entitled “Impact of COVID-19 on the lung function of COPD patients” and the aid granted consists of a financial allocation of €14,000 (USR Tarragona-Reus).
