Artificial intelligence could help monitor patients with persistent COVID-19
The Central Catalonia RSU is collaborating on a project to allow the use of artificial intelligence to provide personalized support to people affected by the symptoms of persistent COVID-19.
Digital technology could help primary care professionals track the evolution of people affected by persistent COVID-19. Among these digital tools, there are three in particular that could help them better understand patients' needs and provide them with more personalized care: artificial intelligence and the use of advanced psychometry and technological devices. ( wearables ).
The project, promoted by the American company Adhera Health in collaboration with ICS Catalunya Central, the Virgen de Macarena University Hospital in Seville and the University of Seville, among others, allows patients with COVID-19 to be monitored. persistent through the information provided by smart bracelets ( wearables ) and questionnaires that patients provide electronically about their health status. The widget also provides emotional and behavioral support to patients, so that they can acquire practices that lead them to have a healthier lifestyle.
In this way, technological tools will allow healthcare professionals to fully monitor patients and obtain alerts if the situation of these patients with persistent COVID-19 worsens.
The coordinator of the Central Catalonia RSU, Josep Vidal , warns: “Much of the diagnosis and treatment of the symptoms of patients with long-term COVID will fall on primary care, which is where one has a more comprehensive and holistic view of the patient. In order to provide adequate care, primary care needs to have good systems in place to track patients and their symptoms over time. ”
It is expected that the project will begin to be implemented in September in the teams of the Bages-Berguedà Primary Care Service.
