Mental health innovation will be the central theme of the fifth edition of the Innovation Conference organised by the Jordi Gol i Gurina Institute for Primary Care Research (IDIAPJGol). The event will take place on 23 October 2025 at the Auditorium of the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

This year’s event is organised jointly with the Mental Health New Technologies Innovation Network (Xarxa TECSAM), of which IDIAPJGol’s Mental Health and Primary Care Research Group is a member. The goal is to create a space for sharing experiences among healthcare professionals, researchers and entrepreneurs, and to promote knowledge transfer to develop solutions that improve the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of mental health disorders, reduce stigma and foster more personalised care.

A programme to promote collaboration and creativity

The conference will open with a welcome session featuring Josep Basora, Director of IDIAPJGol; Joan Comella, Director of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute; Antoni Serrano, Director of Mental Health at the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park; and David Verde, Coordinator of the IDIAPJGol Innovation Agency.

Next, Gemma Hernández, Business Development and Entrepreneurship Manager at the TECSAM Network, will present the network and its initiatives.

The round table “Mental health and innovation: are we up to the challenge?” will bring together professionals such as Elena Villabona and Antonia Raya (IDIAPJGol), Pilar Vaqué (ICS Lleida), Edgar Jorba (Aimentia) and Judit López (Sant Joan de Déu Health Park and TECSAM Network) to discuss the challenges and opportunities of innovation in this field.

The programme will also include presentations of projects such as INDI (IDIAPJGol), PRESTO (Hospital Clínic) and PERMANENS (Hospital del Mar Research Institute), as well as several technological implementation initiatives in the public and private sectors. Afterwards, during the “Elevator Pitch” session, eight teams will present their innovative projects in just three minutes.

The event will conclude with remarks by Josep Basora and Judit López, followed by a cocktail and networking session to encourage collaboration among participants.
