Nurses Cristina Domínguez Amador, Rosa Giné Balcells and Mercè Pollina Pocallet have been announced as the winners of the third edition of the PICARD Awards. The awards were presented on March 27, 2026, at the assembly hall of the Provincial Council of Lleida.

These awards are organized by the Lleida Research Support Unit of IDIAPJGol and the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), with funding from the Provincial Council of Lleida. This year’s call had a budget of €50,000, which will support projects led by professionals who work directly with the public and use research as a tool to improve healthcare delivery.

During the award ceremony, the director of IDIAPJGol, Josep Basora, expressed his appreciation for “the commitment of the Provincial Council of Lleida in sponsoring these awards, which make it possible to translate research results into clinical practice and improve people’s health across the region.”

For his part, the coordinator of the Lleida Research Support Unit of IDIAPJGol and the ICS, José María Palacín, gave a very positive assessment of this third call, stating that “the aim is to promote the development of research projects and support the dissemination of their results, with the goal of improving the quality of research in the field of Primary Care.”

The president of the Provincial Council, Joan Talarn, stressed that “research must be close to people, and that Primary Care is the gateway to the system, where listening, detection and follow-up take place. Research is also about territorial equity: in Lleida, in the Pyrenees, on the plains and in every municipality, we need responses adapted to our reality.”

With this third edition of the PICARD Awards, IDIAPJGol reaffirms its commitment to research and to promoting projects that contribute to improving healthcare services.
