Description

The group is made up of professionals and researchers dedicated to the study of diabetes-related topics. The line of diabetes research of Reus-Tarragona was originated by the primary health care services of Reus-Altebrat and later supported and promoted by the primary health care services of the larger Tarragona-Reus area. It collaborates with European diabetes study networks and the group’s principal researcher is the coordinator of endocrine research in IDIAP Jordi Gol. The group forms part of the ISCIII-accredited redIAPP network. The group’s objective is to promote research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, identification, therapeutic intervention and prognosis of diabetes in primary health care. As primary health care is the entrance to the health system, it must be the basis of diagnosis and care of the diabetic patient, and by extension, of the pre-diabetic, given its prevalence among the population.

Prevention of diabetes and study of pre-diabetes; Therapeutic education applied to diabetes Clinical study of metabolic syndrome and its associations and complications; Clinical study of risk factors and complications associated with type 2 diabetes; Economic analysis of cost-effectiveness in the prevention of type 2 diabetes; Early prevention of complications of type 2 diabetes. Predictive value of the continuous monitoring of glucose for the incidence of type 2 diabetes; Indicators and predictors of the incidence of diabetes in individuals eating a Mediterranean diet.
