Oldest’ Charactheristic and Assesments-Baix Llobregat study’s group
Description
The OCTABAIX study group developed around a group of professionals in nursing and clinical laboratories, epidemiologists, family doctors and geriatricians from different districts of primary Health care (Baix Llobregat Nord, Baix Llobregat Centre and Hospitalet de Llobregat) and from the Bellvitge Hospital, and collaborates with IDIAP Jordi Gol (metropolitan south Research Support unit) and the University of Barcelona (Nursing School).
The group’s main objective is research related to ageing, and in particular with the oldest section of the population (over 80) it is developing various lines of research such as hypertension and type 2 diabetes in the over 90s, functional and cognitive deterioration, falls and malnutrition, sarcopenia and nutritional deficits and studies of the quality of life among people over 89.
