Description
The GROIMAP research group is integrated into the Research Support Unit of the Metropolitan North of IDIAP Jordi Gol. These research group has been recognized by the IDIAP Jordi Gol and the AGAUR of the Generalitat of Catalonia. It is a multidisciplinary research group formed by doctors of different specialties (Family Medicine, Rheumatology, Nuclear Medicine, Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy), Physiotherapists and Nurses. The purpose of the groups is the clinical and epidemiological investigation of diseases of the locomotor system prevalent in primary care and its determinants. Special emphasis on the epidemiology and prevention, primary and secondary, of osteoporotic fractures also called fragility fractures. Since its creation, it has published numerous works in indexed scientific journals with an impact factor. Its members have obtained funding in several competitive research calls. The group is coordinated by Rafael Azagra Ledesma who is family doctor of the CAP Badia del Valles and Senior Lecture Professor of Family Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. From the academic point of view, the group has completed 5 doctoral theses with the highest quality qualification (Mª Carmen Gisbert, Genís Roca, Francisco López, Marta Zwart and Silvia Güell) and which have been developed with research projects of the group. One of the main projects, with funding from the Carlos III Health Institute (FIS grant), is the "PRECIOSA" project that focuses on the prevention of falls in people over 75 years of age living in the community and the fieldwork is carried out the Primary Care Service of Vallès Occidental.
