Severe Mental Diseases Group
Description
Multidisciplinary team constituted by general practitioners, specialists in community and públic health, psychiatrists and nurses. This group encompasses two levels of care: primary care teams and mental health referral centres from the Catalan Health Institute and the Institute for Neuropsychiatry and Addictions at the Hospital del Mar. The main aim of the SMD Group is the study of patients suffering from severe mental disorders, which include: schizophrenia, bipolar, schizoaffective, obsessive compulsive, delusional and schizotypal disorders and other non-organic psychotic disorders, severe depressive episodes with psychotic symptoms and severe cases of recurrent depressive disorders. The definition of severe mental disorder is based on the diagnosis, duration and disability involved.
