Researchers from IDIAPJGol in Lleida bring animal therapy to the European Night of Research
Doctors and researchers from IDIAPJGol, Maylos Rodrigo and Esther Rodrigo, held a workshop on the therapeutic benefits of dogs and other animals, which sold out all its available spots
On September 20, doctors Maylos Rodrigo, from CAP Bordeta-Magraners, and Esther Rodrigo, from CAP Primer de Maig, in Lleida, conducted a workshop on Animal-Assisted Therapy during the celebration of the European Night of Research in the capital of Segrià.
The workshop focused on animal-assisted interventions. During the session, reference was made to the studies being carried out by the Multidisciplinary Research Group in Therapeutics and Interventions in Primary Care (RETICAP) at IDIAPJGol on the use of dogs and other animals for therapeutic purposes.
Using a methodology that combined theory and practice, the activity allowed participants to experience the benefits of animal therapy in different areas: physical, emotional, cognitive, and educational. The workshop sold out all its available spots. Children, parents, grandparents, and students enjoyed the activities and learned more closely about the work of the researchers.
The European Night of Research is a public event dedicated to the dissemination of science, held annually in more than 300 cities across 30 European countries. Its goal is to bring scientific research and its protagonists closer to the public in an accessible and fun way for all ages.
