Presentació del projecte L-HEALTH al bar Candy Darling de Barcelona
The Institut d’Investigació en Atenció Primària Jordi Gol (IDIAPJGol) is looking for lesbians and bisexuals (both cisgender women and those with other gender dissidence), as well as heterosexual women who have sex with women or are attracted to women, who wish to participate in the European L-Health research project. This initiative aims to identify the health inequalities suffered by the group to improve clinical practice in primary care. The study will consist of group interviews. Those interested in participating can register through this registration form. All data collected is treated confidentially.
Next presentation, in Tàrrega
In order to recruit new participants, the L-Health consortium is promoting the project in LGTBIQ+ spaces. On September 9, it was presented at the Candy Darling bar in Barcelona, known among the city's queer community. The next presentation will be on Saturday night, September 21, at the self-managed cooperative space La Soll, in Tàrrega. The project’s Instagram account, @lhealthproject, provides up-to-date information on all the initiatives being carried out.
L-Health Project
L-Health is a participatory research project that aims to improve clinical practice towards lesbian and bisexual women, also including other gender identities and heterosexual women who have sex with women or are attracted to them. The project aims to generate innovative knowledge about the specific needs and health status of the group, raise awareness and provide training and education to health professionals. The team coordinating the project believes it is necessary to take the research to community spaces so that the group participates in the design, interpretation of the results and dissemination.
Apart from identifying the perceptions that lesbians and bisexuals have about the health care they receive, the study also aims to address the vision of health professionals on the care of this group, based on their clinical experience, their needs for knowledge and training, prejudices and stereotypes, personal skills and community resources, as well as the proposals they may have to improve the quality of care.
Training program
The results of the work will be used to design a training program for health professionals that improves their awareness and knowledge of the health of lesbians, bisexuals and people with other gender identities and promotes excellent clinical practice for all of them, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The project is coordinated by IDIAPJGol and involves researchers from the Dr. Josep Trueta Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI), the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB), Sida Studi and EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community (EL*C). The project is funded by the European call CERV-2023-EQUAL.
