Maria Condom Esteve, a resident doctor in Family and Community Medicine at the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit for Family and Community Care (UDMAFiC) in Girona, has been awarded a grant from the Talent Gironí call, promoted by Dipsalut and IDIBGI with the collaboration of COMG. Once she completes her residency, this grant will allow her to dedicate half of her time to research at the Research Support Unit of Girona.

Dr. Condom will carry out a project with the Girona Vascular Health Research Group, led by Dr. Rafel Ramos, aiming to analyze the impact of individual skills such as resilience and health literacy on smoking behavior. In the first phase, the project will assess whether these skills differ between current smokers and former smokers.

In a second phase, the project will focus on smoking cessation groups in the province of Girona. The objective is to identify people at higher risk of relapses, in order to offer them more personalized and effective support.

This work is part of the multicenter DESVELA project, led by IDIAPJGol researcher Ruth Martí, and developed across nine autonomous communities in Spain within the RICAPPS network.
